I'm with Boobie on this one. If you have the cash SunRay products are great. I have one on my MXT and my wife's as well. They really cut down on the time spent looking once you locate a find. I'd rather be searching for that next target than on my knees diggin any day..

Well, I'm fairly new to the new age metal detection. For years I've used an analog detector which was basically beep and dig, no discrimination. I've recently bought the Whites XLT which I'm still trying to master and even more recently bought the Whites Bullseye ll pinpointer. The addition of the pinpointer has made my hunting a lot better, but I think if I new my detector better I would rely less on the pinpointer. Now my question is I only know Whites equipment because that is what I started with and really don't know the laundry list of other detectors and accessories. How does Whites pinpointer stack up to Sunray and Vibraprobe, and also chime in with all your thoughts on the Whites XLT vs the most popular brands talked about on this forum?

I may get flacked here but.... I have two White's Bull'seye pinpointers, got them bundled with my MXT purchases.. They are wonderful for finding out if there is any stray shot left in quail or ducks I've hunted but as far as detecting I have retired both.. False readings, going off for no reason, not much depth., and for me more frustration than they were worth. They are the reason I went with the Sunray DX1s on my rigs and have never looked back.. Call me unimpressed with the Bull'seye's but love the MXTs...

I too am in the market for a pinpointer. I guess it comes down to how much your budget is. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to having the pinpointer as part of your detector, as with the Sunray?

Don't know how they work on a ACE250, but on the MXT it works through the same display just like it was a 1" coil.. Probably works the same on the 250 but your going to have to research that one. Plus having it attached to the rig it's one less thing to pack around or walk off without. Some guys say it adds weight to the machine but has never bothered me. Very sensitive, I have located multiple targets in the same hole with it.
Disclaimer... I just use it and like it, I'm not connected with Sunray in anyway but I do talk up a product I believe is worth the money.

Hi Steve! I will throw in my opinion also and the only true pinpointer is the Vibraprobe 560 and I use one myself. It turns on automatically and if it doesn't detect any metal after 1 minute it turns itself off. It is also waterproof to 30 meters. Runs on a 9 volt and I sell them for 119.00. If I can be of help to you Steve give me a call. God Bless and take care.

Just recently received some "Bummer News" from Ralph at Sunray. I've been waiting for a Sunray Probe to come out for the Minelab XTerra 70, and assumed it would appear in time as Sunray makes probes for other ML detectors. His response is there will be no Probes for the XTerra Series, because Minelab is not sharing any V-Flex technology with after-market suppliers.

Though I've never used a Sunray Probe, I'm 100% sold on them over others similar to it, based on customer reviews and posts at forums. I think it's the best add-on to a detector there is!

Think I'll just get one for my Ace 250 instead .

Thanks John,
At the risk of exposing myself as not being a native Texan (wish I was though!), how close is Blackwell to Abilene?
