Question 1865 indian doubled

i recently discovered one of my indian heads has doubling on all letters and most of the details on the obverse. i can't find any listing of this coin anywhere. not in cherry pickers. does anyone have any info on this variety ?
the reverse has no doubling at all.

Last edited by marylandjeff; 04-22-2007 at 11:00 AM. Reason: also the date has no doubling.

I suspect what your seeing is longacre doubling (a type of strike or Mechanical doubling ) but without pics I cannot be sure .

Longacre doubling was very common on the indian sents and was named after the designer ,, it adds no value to the coin in most cases .

I would be happy to look at some pics to either qualify or dis qualify my reply .

Thumbs up 1865 Indian cent

I would love to see some quality macro photos of your coin. I am curious as to the condition etc.
