Default Undersized wheat cent

Here's a lincoln cent that I've also had for probably 20 years. I mentioned it in another post. I tried to take a picture of it alongside a 1909 VDB. I don't know if you can see it with the naked eye, but it's smaller. My scale won't weigh in milligrams....and both register as 1 gram on the scale.

Close examination of the edge of the coin reveals the lines..horizontally across the edge...mechanically created scrapes from when the planchet was punched. It's also curious that the edge is slightly concave.

The second picture is of both coins resting against my loupe. The larger diameter coin behind the wheat reverse...is the 1909 VDB. The coins are not tilted. They are on the same plane.

Hi Wyatt

the rim does not look even all the way around the coin in the pics ,, is this how the coin appears in hand ?

any way to get a shot of the rim at its narrowest point (edge View)

The rim is even. That's an illusion caused by the angled plane of the coin. Look at the wheat stocks. They are closer to the rim at the outer end than they are at the stem end. That's not an illusion.

I know you were funnin' me....and I did laugh...out loud. This and the nickel might end up being yours anyway.....we'll have to talk about that if you are really interested in them. That 1901 Barber was too tempting...I couldn't help myself.

Yes, the Barber looks real nice and sharp details. No, not interested in errors anymore. Not sure what happened to me but I still like to look at em.
