Default Weatherford Texas Knap In

The 2nd Annual Horseshoe Bend Knapper's Guild Knap In Weatherford Texas will be this weekend, May 25th thru the 28th.

There will be knapper's there, who are at all levels of skill, from beginners to some really phenomenal stone artisans. They will show you how an arrowhead is made, give you tips what to look out for when purchasing points ect. Even teach you how to make them if you ever want to give it a try... Beats those "holed up do nothing days" when the weather is too bad to MD.

This is the main reason I am posting this here. I hate to think someone spent a lot of money on a "fake". I have seen several replicated museum quality pieces get turned out by some of these guys and it always amazes me. (The replicated points made out there are made for Museums who want a certain artifact but cannot locate one or get one any other way.. Mainly to fill a void in a display, or for private collections.)

I plan on being on hand Saturday Sunday and Monday. Access to the public beach on the Brazos is also provided. The beach area use to be a crossing point for that area back in the day. The surrounding area is full of history and battles with Amerindians.

Here is a link to a website that has a map.

Thanks,

James
