1280x-YES!!!
 I bought me a 1280 x last year with the 8 inch coil- WOW!! it is GREAT!!!I had the Whites surfmaster 2 before that--NO COMPARISON!!!This machine is REALLY something-world-class sensitivity-goes a LONG time on a set of batteries.....I really liked the lifetime warranty,too...got it from Kellyco for $599.00..................

Hey Steve! glad to hear the 1280 is a good machine. I have been using the 1270 now for about 6 years and really, really like its depth capability. It has proven to be a great relic machine!!!!!
