Default ace 250 coil protection

I recently purchased an Ace 250 without a coil cover, (thought I had one that would fit but now don't believe it will ).
Have read in other forums about people using a two part marine epoxy to protect the coil from scratches and nicks.
Is this a good idea? Will it affect the sensitivity of the machine? And will it affect the factory warranty?
Would appreciate any thoughts or experiences you might have had.

Thanks

My suggestion is the same as the others
Get a coil cover that is for that coil.
