Default total bewildered newbie

Hi all, got my Garrett, btw, my last name, today, it's the ace 250. Have been so anxious to get it. I lost a beautiful gold necklace about 8 years ago out front while working on my shrubs. Couldn't wait to go there for my first try at it. Sounded like a slot machine was going off. Said there was coins, jewelry. My husband started digging but nothing came out, but it still kept beeping. I know I don't know what I'm doing and I'm sure you have heard this many, many times but my arm hurts from holding it, and I didn't get a thing out. The only thing I know for sure is it detected the metal in my knee replacement.Help, please

First of all, WELCOME to the TQ family. I myself do not have a 250, but I do know several who will be able to help you on that. I do know this, and they will tell you your machine is a coin magnet!!! Good luck, I know you will find that chain. Happy Hunting.

WELCOME TO TQ!!!! I also have the Ace250 and had the same problem my first time out. What you need to do is lower the sensitivity a bit. It should settle down a bit. Watch the DVD and read the manual. It helps a whole bunch. Until you really understand what it's saying, just keep practicing and digging!!!

Let me welcome you to the wonderful world of treasure hunting. second let me welcome ya to the best dern MDin forum any where in whole world wide web.

im not familaur at all with thaht ace 250. i use whites machines. but alot of people on here run the 250 and have lots of good things to say about it.

with tha being said i recomend you read the manual and watch the video. when yer tired of reading thaht manual... READ IT AGAIN. take ya a small hndful of pennys and toss em out in front of ya in yer yard. then find em. after wards read that manual again. it may seem redundant. but the only way yo learn your machine is to practice and study and practice and study and practice and study...

hope this helps ya some.

again welcome

Thanks so much for the insight, I will indeed keep practicing, my husband kind of shot me down right off the bat, saying, "can you get your money back?" I'll ignore, as usual and keep plugging away. Thanks all!

I have to agree with what Pris said.. The sensitivity on the ACE seems over sensitive. Most places I ran it with the sensitivity at 3 or 4 bars...once in a while I could run it at 5...above that it beeped and bonged like crazy. Just take the sensitivity down and it will treat you good.

Hi Micky and keep your chin up and a positive attitude for sure. You might want to try the Jewelry mode and lowered sensitivity for now. Refer to the manual often. If you are getting a lot of signals you might want to try the sniper coil, it is a concentric coil at 4.5" in diameter. It will help quiet the machine a lot. I wish you much success in finding your jewelry soon. God Bless Micky.

As others have said, try lowering the sensitivity. Does it go 'haywire' everywhere or just that one spot? Surface metal can have the 'ole 250 sound like a slot machine. It me a few months to really get the hang of mine and after 2 years I am ahead of the game in money found vs cost of machine
