I am getting back into metal detecting and am wondering if the 250 is a decent detector. I know it will not be as good as a more expensive one but is it worth the 200.00? I am also considering the fisher f2. I will be mostly hunting old home sites. Which detector would be the best for that the 250 or fisher f2. thanks

I use White's machines myself - but from what I've seen and heard from a lot of folks on this forum - I don't think you'll go wrong with EITHER the F2 or the 250...good luck and happy hunting!

First of all welcome to the site!! Very glad to have you drop by.
Both of those detectors will do well for you. The ACE has been on the market longer so a bit more info and users. Lots of folks on this site like the ACE and find very good stuff with it. Good luck with your choice, Beale.

Dave get the one you feel comfortable with...if you have experience with either brand. I use an ACE, and it can find the stuff pretty well. I got a hit for I think a dime today, and after digging 7" pulled out a 1970's crushed soda can. Have pulled coins from 8". Good luck and welcome to TQ...!

I've only used my ace 250 a few weeks now and I'm loving it. I'm starting to get more used to the tones and the pinpointing is great. I tried a $99 bounty hunter track iv and just couldn't figure things out. The depth meter and pinpointing of the Ace are excellent. I did look into the Fisher F2 but after reading some reviews of the poor build quality I decided on the Ace. Not to slam other products, that's just what I found googling. I'm sure either one will serve you well!
