Garrett GTP Series When treasure hunting, knowing the size of a buried target may mean the difference between digging trash and digging treasure! That's what the Garrett Graphic Target Profiling (GTP) 1350, offers. The GTP 1350 is packed with many of the same amazing technologies that are featured in Garrett's elite GTI series. And it offers exclusive profiling technology that identifies the size (Small, Medium, Large) of a target on the LCD display. The Garrett GTP also comes with Garrett's highly rugged 7x10" PROformance searchcoil, which means deeper searches and more ground covered per sweep than with traditional coils.

Default A question for GTP 1500 users

I understand how useful the Graphic Target Profile can be, especially if the target is big and turns out to be a crushed can. But how accurate is it when we get to smaller targets. A smaller target suggest a coin? Will it suggest with any accuracy if the smaller target is a pull tab as opposed to a coin? I've dug far too many of them already with My ace250 and my MXT.

Second question: how useful is this feature when in the Relic Mode?

Hi Robert, I have used the GTP1350 somewhat and hunt in all-metal with it. Personally I love the feel and balance of this machine. With the Graphic Target Profiling mode on this machine and others too Mr. Garrett must feel that it is a viable feature and has made it a large part of these machines. GTP mode requires a specific method to be reasonably accurate. When going to this mode to size up a target you must maintain a steady sweep speed and sweep width. I believe this is critical to get the GTP to help you at all. I would want to think that maybe it would shine a little better in relic hunting. I personally don't use this mode at all because I have not found it to be a great advantage in coinshooting. Maybe I am the one that is not getting it right. So I will let you make your judgement of this GTP mode from your experiences Robert. But when you purchase one of the GTP type machines you are paying extra for this capability to be sure. But if I were you I would give it as much time needed to see if it is an advantage for you Robert. So I will leave this with you and I wish you good luck with the 1500 and again I like the GTP1350 and I have just ordered the 4.5" Crossfire coils to try on it. God Bless Robert and if I can help you more let me know.

Default Thanks and

Thanks for your reply. Honestly I don't see the advantage. I use an ACE 250 and an MXT and I have no problem in knowing when my target is over sized.

I was out early this morning with the Ace 250. I live just outside of indianapolis. We have a Raceway park in Clairmont where people from all mover the country come to camp out and enjoy the races. Its mostly grass and a thin layer of dirt over some gravel. I have the gravel, but then the coins don't seem to drift as far down. I knew IMMEDIATELY when I was targeting in on a large can, however, this IS easy since it is so close to the surface. Perhaps if it were several inches deep I might not have had such an easy time of it.
