Default question about my ace

After much debating over the choice of a new detector, finally broke down and got the ace 250 from Rons detectors in chicago (windy city).By the way-2nd purchase from him-got my detector in three days-very happy with it-however,need to work out the bugs/find my place w/this detector.Seems I just got use to my old detector(tracker IV) and Im starting anew. Can anyone give me some advice ? any tricks you can tell me about the ace that will save me some time in the turf? Where is the sweet spot on the receiver? Does the pinpoint work efficiently? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks and happy MDing.

I have an ACE and I love it...yes the pinpointer is extremely efficient...trust it. Heck, I've even put my finger on the pinpointer and found items that only gave a faint or "half-hearted" sound off with the detector.

As for the sweet spot on the coil: depending on which coil you're using - I've got the oval one (I'm sure it has a name/size, but I'm not that technical LOL) and it's got a notch dead center right under where the handle joins the coil. That's the bullseye and it works for me every time. The sniper works the same way - dead center of the coil seems to be the bullseye.

Good luck!

Congrats on your purchase! I also have the Ace250 and love it. I bought the sniper coil and if you have the extra $ it's an awesome investment. I paid about $70 for the sniper and the extra lower rod with attaching hardware.

As everyone is probably going to say, the key to learning any machine is to watch the DVD and read the manual, repeat, repeat again, then practice over and over. Once you know what all the buttons do and what the sounds are, that's a really good start.

I have found that the pinpointing is much better with the sniper coil. The stock coil is very good, though sometimes the target would seem to move. With the sniper, I know just where the target is. It's dead on!

Good luck and HH
