[quote=leslie(nova scotia)]From the land of the Bluenose.....well this Oct will mark my 31st year at the hobby and all swinging green.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HOLA GREGORY: I agree on the Garrett, my preference since ah err sheesh 1955. He had just produced his first BFO. I still have the 2 ft coil which I adapted for my SEA Hunter PI. At that time my main arenal was the Gardner with the 3 ft coil combination, still a hard machine to beat - but heck to balance hhehe. Cost $900 US in tose days ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jose de La Mancha ( I tilt windmills ) |
My seahunter after 18 years developed an unrepairable crack. I tried water proof glues but it still leaked. So after many attempts to find another one via ebay I found one at a local dealer in almost mint condition. I passed on ebay since most sellers would not guarantee it to be water proof or even to guarantee that it evens works! With temperatures soaring to the low 90's here in Texas I'm gearing up for my first beach hunt of the year! So I'm excited and may even travel to Virginia later this year to visit my brother and visit their local beaches. I almost bought a Mark 2 but did not like this motion type of detector....... Good Luck in Swinging Green.
Hi Leslie,
It looks like we are about the same age and we have been detecting about the same length of time. I too have a Garrett Freedom II. In fact I now have 3. My original one was purchased in 1986. I have had the rubber hand grip replaced twice, but it is still my favorite machine. I've owned other Garretts, Whites, Fisher, Tessoro, and Compass, but this one is still my favorite. Here is a pic of an Indian head cent about 5" deep and still in the plug. I found this coin about two weeks ago in a yard. |
