Default Gti 2500

Just moved up to the GTI 2500 from the ACE 250 and a BH LandRanger. Really like my new detector so far. Had a problem with black sand on a freshwater beach. Anyone else? How did you handle it? AgOro

I’m looking for a new detector and the GTI 2500 is on my list of possibilities, but if fresh water black sand beaches are a problem for this detector I may have to scratch it from my list.

Have you solved the problem yet?

Mike

I upgraded from the gtax550 to the gti 2500. And so far am pleased with the upgrade. I dont hunt much around fresh water so I couldnt tell you about how it is. But on the beach with the salt elimination on the machine is very good. And on land relic hunting and coin hunting I feel the machine is excellent once you learn how to use it. Just my 2 cents if you got any questions feel free to ask I'll try to answer them if I know the answers. Wont lie to you.

Black sand is going to be a problem for any detector . You just have to do the best you can to adjust out the minerals. Just so you know , Garrett has a special on the 2500 starting today.
Let me know if you're interested.

Default Gti 2500

I ran into a black sand problem on a freshwater lake that is known for salinity. I turned on the salt elim feature and manually ground balanced the machine. I then turned the sensitivity down from a factory preset 10 to about a seven and the problem disappeared. Hope it works for you. You may have to do a bit of experimenting but it should solve your problem. I think the ground balancing helped more than anything. MB

I had the same problem with mine and couldn't figure out what to do either. I reread my manual that night and next day I went to the same spot and manually ground balanced my machine on the beach. That fixed the problem. I had it on salt water last fall and it performed perfectly with the salt elimination feature activated. MontyB
