The Seahunter is an OK beach detector but has problems in the surf. It can become erratic at times , more so when the black sand count goes up. If you're looking for a wet sand/water detector , this is not the best.

Default yo Joe re Seahunter Mk

From the land of the Bluenose....after my Seahunt xl500 died from over use I got the Seahunter Mk 2 and found a different world of swishing. On the good side the Mk 2 lighter and very sensitive on the bad side tends to chatter like the wife when one has been into the Bud all night. Still a great machine and has found me over 40 gold and silver rings in the first year of use. On th minus side also is the batteries only good for about 24 hours. being a life time Garrett swinger find it great but..and a big butt this bouy has I would take a look at the Fisher Cz series also. Good swishing on whatever you choose.

By the wayu me bouy makinholes fixed the Seahunter xl500 which I gave to him and he's still a s swishing with it after garrett said it was dead. Figure that but they did give me the Mk2 at half price. 32 years a green machine man only.

Default Sea Hunter MKII

I bought one last year mainly for club seeded hunts at the local lakes. I have been to locate tokens as well as any of the Fisher machines used by many club members and found a few that they missed. The discrimination feature sure works well in freshwater for doing away with pull tabs. The only thing I would change is that being a PI machine it won't tell you the depth of your target. You just have to learn to estimate it by the sound, louder shallow, deeper soft. Soft can also mean gold unfortunately. I have a lot of confidence in the machine as it has never lied to me and my biggest problem is lack of digging skills. I have a bad back and have a real problem bending to dig and working the sandscoop. I've never used it in surf or saltwater but yeah, I'm sure it would be great for that purpose too. I am thinning out some of my detecting equipment and my MkII is not for sale if that tells youi anything. MB
