Default Thanks All

for your nice responses. I do think that the fun I have way outweighs what I think anyone thinks. I mean, I'm pullin' MONEY out of the ground for goodness sake! A bikini wouldn't hurt though huh, Indy?

Wear a bright orange shirt with the words "Sewer Department" on the back. If anybody asks tell them you're looking for sewer back-up in the area. That will certainly get them away from you!

add me to those who strongly endorse the Indy dress code for you ladies and please let me know where you will be and when .... now that has been said, when my wife and I are out detecting (or most anything else) we could care less if anyone ever notices us or not ... guess that is one of he advantages of being one of the "baby boomers"

Pris - add a set of knee pads to the original outfit. That should do it.

Joanne! I go to a park just a block from where I work...during my lunch. When I get back, people tell me that they saw me out there. I mentioned to one of my co-workers that I could be wearing knee pads and she just shakes her head and says, "No...no you couldn't." I think I would be dis-owned by the people I work with if I did that.
Or I would have to find another spot to hunt for lunch!!

Default just be friendly

That's what I do. People are curious but a bit scared at the same time to greet you but if you say hi first that usually breaks the ice then people become friendlier. It's hard to be fassionable in this hobby. Everyone looks kinda geeky with a metal detector. I try to go at odd times when not too much people are around, do my thing and get back to style once I have most or all goodies.
