Default Here's a dumb question

Will an XLT detect thru Ice. I went out today with a little snow and ice still on the ground, and got a solid hit for a quarter around this old office building, but when I tried to dig it out (it was at 6.5 inches) I got down about 2 inches and the ground was still froze. I did mark the spot to go back later, but dont know if the ice throws off the detector or not??

Default There Are No.....

.....dumb questions except for the one you don't ask!

The only way the ice will effect the detecting is that it may keep you from digging the target! Your reading should be the same, with or without the ice.

Wink Reasonable question..

BBuck,

As Chuck has said the only dumb Q is the one not asked.

Ice and snow are just extra thickness to detect through. I have hunted in 20 degree and below weather and had to retrieve coins with a rock hammer and chissel, and thats not fun. Since it was a site under construction I was able to try it but decided that maybe it REALY was TOO COLD to detect.

Go back after the thaw and get your target.

Search with care.
