Default Metal Detector Carrying Bag

Recently I purchased a "Bat Bag" from Academy Sports in order to keep my metal detector in. I had been searching for a bag/case for quite a while and was unable to find one that had adequate length. While looking through a sales ad for Academy Sports, I noticed that a bat bag would be ideal for length, providing I disassemble the metal detector shaft. There were many makes and styles to choose from, however I went with the one pictured below which measures 36"L x 10"H x 10"W. It has plenty of storage for additional coils, and other tools as well. I hope this may help others who may be searching for a carrying bag/case as well.

FinalLastDays,

Cool bag! I had the same thought, getting a bat or LaCrosse bag for my MDing stuff. Does the bag you got have any padding or rigid stucture to hold its form?

Default golf bag

Good idea, but also try looking at golf travel bags. They might be a little more expensive, but they too will serve the purpose.

Great idea. I need something. I plan on strapping the detector to the motorcycle this summer. I prefer riding and it's a damn site cheaper than driving the Expedition.

mlamp - In answer to your question, this bag does not have anything to hold its form - one factor that I did take into consideration. Once the metal detector is in the bag, it holds better form. However if you are able to get a hold of some scrap linoleum flooring, you can cut and fit it to the size of the bottom of the bag in order to hold good form. I will be checking out our local hardware store, which sells scrap pieces of flooring and wood at discounted prices.

Thanks for the info on the bag. I have been considering getting some type of bag that has a shoulder strap. I have some places that are a hike into the woods and would be much easier with some type of shoulder strap to carry. I will check one of the these out at my local sports store.

FinalLastDays,

Saw your bag online at WallyMart, it is listed a Web Only. Were you able to buy it on the spot at a walk-in store (Academy)? The dug-out clips and rings seem sturdy enough to accommodate shoulder straps to carry like a pack?

Thanks!

Default Pelican 1750 case

This case can be used to to store most detectors without disassembly. There is room for accessories as well. It is water-tight and VERY durable. It even has wheels. You can customize for your equipement. I love mine!

It runs around $180, but worth it IMHO.

That's a very nice case. One may even be able to find one for a better price on one of the many online auction sites.
