I went to Cragford, AL over the weekend. We stayed at the Alabama Gold Camp to do some panning. I found some gold in almost every pan. A speck in the pan isn't enough to get rich but it sure was fun. Lonnie is the owner and will show you how to pan. It was one of the cheapest outings to do something I've had in a long time. For less than $20 you can camp, rent gold prospecting equipment, and do all the prospecting that you want. You don't have to buy dirt by the bucket like at most places. They dig the gravel & sand out of the creek and you pick the pile and go where you want to.
The place is just getting started up so they have a lot of improvements to get finished. They have primitive and electric hookups for the camping available. There are showers also. If you want to get dirty and have some fun check it out. Lonnie and his wife are top notch people.
