May just be me and/or my detector, but I have had good, high, repeatable signals, started digging only to find out later there is a mangled can just off to the side of my "target area". Guess irregular surface trows off the percieved location for the detector? I do not have depth on my MD so after 5" and no target I start to consider the mangled can/junk possibility. I will them use my handheld pinpointer and sweep the side and perimeter of the hole. This has kept me from digging to China more than a few times.
