I may be wrong because I don't currently work with any movie editing programs, but Quicktime is a macintosh program, so movies created in Quicktime may not be compatible with Microsoft programs.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will let us know.

I think each program has to license Quicktime from Apple. I did a quick search a found programs to convert between formats.
