Yahooooooo over 1000 coins

I did it, Over 1000 coins in less than 5 months. After this mornings tot lot finds. I would never have thought I would hit 1000 coins. Just one my goals that I set for myself. It may not be a lot compared to some of you old time Pro's. So now I have to set another goal to beat..... Gold Gold Gold.....nah that's to high for a rookie like me....maybe 2500 coins for the year...

P.S. I owe it all to the many pro's on this site. I have read as much as I could from posts on TQ and have talked personaly with a few of the Mder's from TQ. All I can say is Thanks for all the help. You are the best.....

You reached the 1000 coin mark.. Now you can go get the gold if you do your research correctly. It is not as hard as you may think. I usually look for old Ghost Towns that were a hub of earlier pioneer days or a training camp dating pre-1900. Find out about where the saloon was ect and the stables and to be totally honest, locate the old latrines.. How many people do you know or have you heard of got drunk and lost half their pay?? History repeats itself and if you can locate a local site that pre-dates 1900's, chances are there will be at least one gold coin there. It is up to you to locate it... Dig all signals and accept all metals.. Some soldiers refused to be paid in "greenbacks" and henceforth, a lot of pay was in coinage..Some soldiers got drunk a lot, just like some do now a days when on leave.. Which normally results in one or two of them losing some of their pay. Either in the mud, getting to or from the bar ect

Another good place to check out is the old Fall Festival locations. Do you have any kids?? If so have you ever taken them to a fair?? How many times have they or you for that matter, lost some money at an event? I know I have lost quite a bit.. Same goes for way back then... Give kids a little money and one of them is bound to lose some....

My first gold came from cutting down a tree in South Fort Worth when I was not even considering MDing... I was clearing land for a parking lot and was clearing trees. There was one tree that was real big. Since the tree was so large, I decided to use the backhoe to move it out of the way and into the brush pile I had going. I brought the bucket down on a fork in the tree, breaking it and making it easier to handle and saw something shining in the sun. I got off and looked and found where someone had stashed 5-$20 gold pieces in the fork of the tree and that the tree had grown around... Later that evening, I got my detector and scanned the entire area and found three gold Dollar coins, two flying eagles and six pennies. Figured someone didn't trust banks or stole it and was trying to hide it. Either way, the tree had grown completely around it.. And I wasn't even detecting when I first found it.. Stranger things have happened though.. My wife and I once found a cast iron coffin on her families old homestead.. We called the Sheriff and he said he knew of no burials in the area so we doubled checked the family records and found out it it was one of her Grandfather's Great Uncles.. Had an unmarked grave.. We set a stone there to prevent it getting lost again.
