Default Laughing at myself!!

Thought I had a good hit. Nice tone on the detector. Turned the discriminator up , still there. Started digging, and digging and digging and digging. Finally a good 15" down I found a very very rusted railroad spike that literally fell apart when I tried to extract it. The bloom from the rust was Huge but only went DOWN. I didn't get any orange dirt until I hit it.... Evidentially the bloom was so excessive it would discriminate out.

Sure fooled me.......

Been there done that ! Imagine my surprize after getting a good sig. dead center on this 6-8 inch thick rock last weekend,I tunneled up under it only to find a rusty old tincan ! I had to chop through treeroots and other smaller rocks.I even tryed to drop another big rock onto the huge rock to see if i could break the huge rock but all that did was break the big rock !not to mention just missing my foot ! I took this pic.so that i could doucument my pot of gold i was about to find !

I have had that happen with with pop cans and beer cans reading as a penny. Sure does make the heart rate go up, thinking it may be a mason jar with lots of coins.....
