Default Has anyone tried....

...the new Bluetooth wireless headphones for detectors. I am curious as to how well they work? It would be great not to have headphone wires getting in the way anymore!

Default in my opinion

its not a good idea.... do a search on my post and i explain why in a previous post. a MDs coil is basically an antena and wireless head phones have to have a transmitter. i say its not worth missing anything for that lil bit of conveniance. read my previous post because i answered that question for soem one else too.

I mulled this over for more than a year, before deciding to stay with corded headphones. I found that laying the detector in front of me while digging eliminated the annoying "tip overs" when set off to the side.

Just bought a set of KB Stingers with one headphone (from Chuck).

Reason 1. I like to hear what's going on around me.

Reason 2. I am susceptible to ear infections created by perspiration from headphones. With these I can switch back and forth, allowing air to dry my ear canals.

I've heard both good and bad about cordless phones; gotta be your choice

I tried a set of wireless head phones from Radio Shack.

Did they work, yes, but I wasn't to impressed............

A couple of things I didn't like was when crossing certain targets I would get a crackling sound in the headsets instead of a nice clear tone, the other thing I didn't like is they sounds weren't "sharp" in my headset for a lack of better words................

Do they work, yes / sort of, did I like them, no ............

I keep several headsets with me in the car for different conditions. Today, for example, I was up in the mountains away from most anyone so I wore my Koss set that completely cuts out all external noise and allows me to hear the slightest of targets. When I hunt the parks, I have a pair of Sonys that clip on each ear -- allows me to hear anyone approaching, and lets me wear a full-brimmed hat that keeps the sun off my head and neck. I also have one more pair that is somewhere in between. Of course, having just the right cord length is also important! One's too short, one's too long, the other... is also too short... darn!

Dooby....I'm glad to hear your comment on the Radio Shack phones. I had already purchased another brand a few months ago and they worked very poorly. This was after reading good comments on a couple of the forums about this particular brand. Then I started hearing about the ones from Radio Shack. Been thinking for a long time and decided to buy them. My local store did not carry them. Found a couple stores in the Metroplex that stock them but hadn't gotten around to going after them. The idea of not being tied to your detector with the cord sounds great but until someone comes up with a quality product I think I will give up on the wireless idea. And if they do finally make that quality product, it will probably be out of my price range. I think my next set of phones will be corded but some type of small clipon ear buds. As you know our Texas summers do get a little on the warn side.
