Default Got a good fealing !

Funny how things go.I did a job yesterday for some folks that own a large farm on the road from Fort Plain to the head of Otsego lake. This road was built in 1797 to transport troops during the Sullivan Clinton Campaign.I'm going to ask for permision to search it when i go back next week.I got home last night and found a site with a map from 1797 of the area and it had comparisons to modern maps. Then this morning i get to work and they tell me we have a job in Fort Plain. This job is also on the same road.Well i got to talkin to the folks we were doing the job for and they invited me to search there property but i have to wait till the fall after the corn is cut.In the meantime though i met some folks earlier this year in fort plain that have property that i can search anytime. So tomorrrow i have to go back to the 2'nd jobsite to bring 3 tables that we forgot to load.I thought the bossman would give us hell but i offered to take the day off and bring the tables there as long as they supply the truck,so i get to take the day off and go detectin and dont have to pay for gas.(It's about an hour drive).

Lucky man you!!! Hr drive and not having to pay for gas for some digging, not bad at all!!! Also digging us some Spanish Silver Dollars would be awesome!!!

I have been trying to post to this thread for the 3rd time now, but getting kicked off everytime I turn around...so going to make this short.....I was thrilled...my old homesites have been running thin lately, but got permission today through 3 different people, that I have been trying to speak to someone for about a year now on this location....was told by the second person to stay out of the pasture where the old homesite was because of the Bull's lol, which reminded me of your Bull experience!!! lol!!! Got permission to detect an old store just off the road and then the lease owner pulled up and I asked him about the bulls, and he told me they wouldn't bother me!!! I went and checked this area out...But wasn't going to take the chance.....He said he hand fed them....He told me if I wait a few days they are going to be moved and I could come back...I think I will wait till then!!!! But very excited to get a new place to try...I am going to take Charly to this area...She has never dug a good ole homesite that is a fresh area, I am hoping that has not been dug before!!!
I hope it produces some good finds, so she can see how exciting an old homesite can be for coins and relics!!!! Wishing you luck and wish me and Charly luck!!! I am excited about this place also!!!

RIP, I have always wondered what it was about a leg that dogs find attractive. When I was little (6 or 7) I used to have to run away from my neighbor's dog. He would knock me down!!! Stupid dogs.

Yup darn dogs ! But it dident stop me from findin that 1803 large cent !
Well i went to fort plain today, found a buddy to go with me also.We got a late start as my bud had to go to the bank and drop off $2000 in 1/2 dollars and then wanted to stop at every bank we saw ! I think he's got a slight coin roll huntin addiction ! we got there and looked up an old guy that i met last spring that was like having a tour guide ! The history there is very awsome. He took us to a spot on the Mohawk river were there was once an old tavern and ferry. We found tons of flint chips but no artifacts or treasure but i did find part of a large 'Herkimer diamond" .It was in the 90's and very very dry.Nothing found so we whent back to Pete's house ( our tour guide ).His house was built in 1820 and was next door to an old military acadamy and Indian village and about 100 yards from the fort site.I found an old skelatan key then gave up as it was getting late and we had to get back.We will be going back another day for sure, hopfully when it;s a bit cooler ! Heres a link on some of the history ! Fort Plain Museum & Historical Park
