Default Brought the MD to work.

Hello everyone. I work with the elderly at a residential facility for Alziemers care. I am a personal care attendant and the activity director. I have been telling everyone at work about this site and my love of detecting and sometimes bring in a ring or something cool I have found. Well today I brought my Spectrum XLT to work with me. We fooled around in the yard some and it was a hit, some of the residents wanted to play with it. We found a couple of pennies and an old rusty spoon. Some of the workers are talking about buying metal detectors now. The best part was hearing the stories from the residents about finding things when they were children and not having a machine to do it. I do love them all and have alot of fun with them. Here are some photos of past activities. Hope you enjoy.
#1 is Mr. Bone E. Part a skeleton we made from PVC pipe.
#2 is the residents playing with a nylon Parachute we decorated.
#3 is the residents enjoying a snack.
#4 is all the residents with MR. Bone E. Part.

What a nice story. You are a truly special person to do your job with such love and enthusiasm. Also I hope your husband is still feeling better.

Thumbs up

Alzheimer's is a horrible disease. My mother had it before she passed. That was the hardest time in my families life.

Anyone who has the heart and ability to work with the unfortunate folks that are afflicted with it are without a doubt the most compassionate / dedicated people in the world in my opinion.
Someone has to be a truly special person to take on such a monumential task.
&
YOU ARE THAT PERSON
Thank you from all the families that are in this situtation.

Such a great inspiration. I think it was a great idea to bring your MD to work. I'm sure everyone appreciated the little bit of excitement. Way to go!

Default Thank you

Thank you all for the kind words. I have been working at this facility for almost 4 years and totally love my job and the residents. Our youngest resident is sadly only 59 and the oldest is 102. it is a very small privately owned facility and our max is 13 beds. I consider these people my family and each one is very special to me. Thank you again
