Default If I Thought You...

...you were really serious in the first part of your post I would warn you about possible ear damage from the feedback of your $6,000 hearing aids through your 1974 headphones. But, having gotten to know you a little better through those "private emails", I have to think it's just your "tongue & cheek, wry humor" talking.

As for your AF Survival Knife, as I remember from my time in Nam, that "Texas Tooth Pick" will probably work well, considering you probably won't be digging very deep as a result of the 1974 headphones.

You know what they say Carl..."hanging on too tightly to the past, could definitely keep you out of the future."

When you are ready to experiment with the "new fangled", modern day headphones, I will be honored to ask, !!!

Do you think if I wear them today with my old phones that it would equate to what you keep telling me I should be using? I never told you this in our private emails. My digging tool is my AF Survival Knife I carried in Nam in 1966. Maybe I am just trying to hang onto the past Seriously, after reading all the posts here maybe I need to just try a good set and see if it makes a difference for me. When I get ready I'll have you ship me a set, but for now..business as usual.

Those aids are defiently going to be taken off when I am detecting. Just getting my hands close to them will make them squeal. I got my 1350 today but only had a short time to play with it as I had a Dr. appt. Ran out to the field (With Old Headphones) and found three newer coins and two tokens and was a little disappointed. I just got back from the Dr. and decided to watch the instruction video....now I see why it wasn't performing to my expectations. Now Chuck I know what you are thinking, being we are Flight Instructors and all. but I just had to try it right away. I can't play again until sometime tomorrow. I will say this...from what I see in the instruction video, I think I am going to like this detector. I will post a full report as soon as I can really run it through its paces.

Default Good Morning Carl...

...and "Welcome Home" to you too. The fact that you and I and thousnds of others made it back is a testament to the Blessings of the LORD, and our own tenacity and desire. That tenacity, desire, and experience has definitely played a big part in making us who we are today. As is often said, "life experience is the best teacher."

I too, thank all of you guys and gals who care enough to thank us for our time and service over there, and who love this land!

You have purchased a very good machine, and Garrett has always manufactured a good product. They are a bit heavier and out of balance than they could be, but then so are the Minelab Explorers and a couple others.

Carl...as I have seen several times before, often a disagreement or argument can and will end up in a good friendship once the sabers stop rattling. Even though we haven't yet met, I know you very well...I should, I live with me 24/7!

Good luck and good hunting my friend!

Well, again thanks to ALL of you who gave your service in our country's military. I am a huge fan of anyone who will put themselves in harms way so that my family can enjoy the freedoms that we have. BTW what kind of metal detectors did you have to dig up those pesky mines? How do they compare to what is out there now?
