Default Heading to Fredericksburg Virginia Soon

Will be leaving on July 16th. I'll be camping out down there for a week or 10 days. If anyone lives close by and wants to swing the coil a spell or just wants to talk treasure give me a shout

Cool place. I miss it.

If you can dig around near it, the power station just up river from Quantico was the site of a Confederate gun battery while they blocaded the Potomac for awhile.

If you can cross the river--- directly opposite the base and Quantico town on the Maryland side was a huge Union camp where they watched the Confederate implacements. There, and on down the river on the Maryland side is where the Union launched their attack on Fredricksburg by going up the mouth of the Rapahanock River.

They were repelled, and an incredibly bloody retreat was run back down it, and over to the Maryland side of the Potomac.

There has been some interesting stuff found around them places over the years......

Good luck, and have a safe trip.

Hi Greg, not sure if you ever detected Fredicksburg but I think you will probably do well. My wife purchased some relics for me from a guy who detected in that area. Some of the artifacts such as a clay pipe were found on the surface. I have several standard musket balls and some of the newer type with rifeling. One interesting miniball was evedently used at a field hospital because you can see the deep molar tooth imprints. Anyway, I hope you are successful.

Howdy,
Well we're all having a great time and it's a hot 97% here. I enjoy the warm temps. I'm needing to swing the coil some but the boys want to go fishing. I hear thunder but that could be cannon fire? We went down town Fredericksburg yesterday and it's such a historic town, I just love it and never grow tired of visiting. We also stopped by the Stratford for a visit and ended up spending several hours there.
My internet connection goes in & out so I hope this post goes through.

Will post back,

Greg
