Default Interesting....but has got me wondering....

Ahhhhhh it's the 4th of july and like a good american with alittle free time i grabbed the ole metal detector and went for an hour or so. Now i live out in the country (per say ) and some of the schools are very old so always got a good chance at finding some good stuff, so my first choice was an old school with a bunch of baseball fields, pulled up and the lot was full of cars!!!!! ( a baseball tournament on the 4th???, whats with them people playing ball when i got some free time!!!!!! LOL....) so i swung over to another school and started swinging, now within an hour i found some misc junk, but what has got me wondering is within the junk was 2 slugs from bullets!!! one was from a shotgun slug and the other was from a rifle!!!!! now i find this interesting because the last 4 times out i have found bullets at schools!!!!! anybody got any theories on this???? let's hear them...... When I was a kid I carried spent bullets and casings with me everywhere I went! Thats my theory.

I agree with Arkwater it's probably just kids carrying them around. I have found 7 .22 cal bullets the last couple days in a city park that joins up with an elementary school. It's most likely just kids though.

Post Picking up the lead

..or it could be recent hunters on weekends or hollidays if it's far enough out of town. And then again it could just be some plinking goin' on on the weekends/holidays.

I think the kids pockets is the most likely answer though.

Default Bullet Casings And Slugs In School Yards

I have found these too, so far 100% of the time they are old and deep. I suspect either they were from before the land was a schoolyard or the laws were very lax about shooting guns in these areas in the distant past such as the 1950's abd before! Of course, if the bullets could talk.................................we would probably hear some very interesting stories!....................HAPPY HUNTING.......................Joe
