Default Do you think your detector is too heavy?

I want to see what everyone’s thoughts were on this. I have a Minelab Sov Elite. It’s very heavy, but it really punches down deep.

Explorer SE user here...

Sure is Heavy. Especially when adding a Sunray Probe to it... Along with using the stock 10" coil...

When I first Bought my SE I just used the 8" coil ... for 2 months then I bought the Sunray Probe... and Even though it isn't That heavy... Installed it with the 10" coil and after 4-5 hrs you sure can fell the weight.. Especially the next day when you start swinging again...

And By no means am I a Skinny frail person..

But the Explorer gets the job done..

So if you are looking for a Light detector... This will not be for you..

Default Weight is relative!

You need to find the detector that you enjoy the most and not worry about the weight! If the weight is causing physical problems then you can get a hip-mount kit! I have sales brochures from Fisher and Goldak from the 1950's that considered 7 to 8 pounds to be light weight. I grew-up using the big box detectors of the late 1960's and early 1970's which were a lot heavier than the current line of detectors! I remember having to switch hands due to the weight problem or having to use both hands on the detector because of the weight! If the weight was a very vital issue, I would switch to one of the Tesoro u-max series!................HH.............Joe

Chuck, how does the Cortes stack up against the Tesoro H.O.T. machines?

I have a Whites 6000/DI Pro SL-it feels like swinging a bowling ball. Kills my arm and shoulder.

I don't think they make a hip mount for this machine. Am I wrong???
