500 acres would give anyone the incentive to get out there, but do take it a little at a time, don't over do it.
Good luck though on your new site.

UNC,
Glad to hear you are about to get back to detecting, be sure not to overdo it. With 500 acres to hunt, you're set for a long time. I won't go into the math, but when I set up a planted hunt I calculate that a 10' x 15' foot area will keep one detectorist busy for one hour to search it well (thats the rule of thumb I use for sizing an area to be hunted, and it gets about 98% or better recovery rate with people still diging at the end). So if anyone wants to work the numbers, that's about how long you can hunt the 500 acres once with good coverage. Get out there and do your best. SWC Joe |
