Default Anyone else track their finds like this?

Just curious how\if everyone out there tracks their finds. I've been wanting to get around to setting up a database, but for now have just been using a spreadsheet -- maybe this winter. Am I unique in my anal attitude here? I track everything -- what I found, where I found it, when I found it, by location, by date, by coin, by jewelry, etc... What do all of you do?

I haven't given a lot of thought to tracking and recording finds to this extent...I keep my coin counter up-to-date here on TQ...but I suppose that once I begin to recover more significant finds it would make sense to record some info - if for no other reason - to have a plan of attack for future hunts....also to remember where the hell I've been!

I look at everything... I know which fields have been producing the most for me. I know where I've found the "good stuff", etc. Here's another example... I really need to switch this over to a relational database!

I think many of us would like to track our finds but do not have any software set up to do it. I have excel but do not know enough to be able to set up a database. Your pages look good.

I like the graphs, what program do you use? I never did anything but count the clad and spend it or put it aside if it needed cleaning. I think that I may start a coin counter here though. The jewelry that I found is all in ziplocks in drawers (except for any that my wife lays claim to) and other unique items are also in ziplocks in drawers. I've been collecting coins for a long time and inherited my dad's collection when he passed away and these along with the ones that I find are either in my safe or, you guessed it, in ziplocks in drawers.

Right now, I'm just using Excel. I've had plans and even started an Access database a while back, but just never took the time to complete it. In some ways, starting with Excel is better in that it has expanded over time, so I have a better idea now what I want in a database. Maybe when the snow starts to fall, I can find some time to work up the database. For those who want, I'll share the database whenever I get around to building it.

By the way, my detecting finds (except for the ones the wife has laid claim to -- or either of my girls, for that matter) are all in plastic boxes my 35mm slides are returned in, all stored securely in a cash box I've had since I was a kid. Oh, the silver and foreign coins are all in mounts in a binder with my other collector coins. The clad is in buckets in the garage, awaiting the arrival of a vibratory polisher I just purchased a few days ago on ebay. I'll soon have that all cleaned up and cashed in!

Wow that is a nice set up. Yea I'd like to do better tracking my where's and what's. Right now I just line my nail bag with a zip lock and at the end of the hunt write the date and where. Then later I kinda paper log but still not very precisely.

Excellent data sheets. I really don't keep track of it. I keep the coins I find in a Jar and other stuff just layed out in my room. Once I and my finds get better that may be a good Idea. Thanks for Posting that.
