Default After work hunt 9/15

Hi all,

I figured that it was about time that I stepped away from the bottles and went Ace swinging. So after work I went to a small park and found some clad. I had an idea of what I thought was a better location, a township municipal building with a small park attached.

Township residents can use the building free of charge for functions, and there was some sort of family event going on inside. No problem, I was hunting about 15o yards away from the parking lot. We have all had our Pied Piper days, today was mine.

After about ten minutes of swinging the kids began to come. They wanted to try the Ace, dig holes and poke metal stuff with the vibra probe. I did the goodwill ambassador thing and let them have at it, and they had alot of fun and found a couple of coins. Norman Rockwell stuff.

Then it happened, a stout stern looking lady came out of the building in a panic, and called the kids inside with that shrill voice that stout women seem to have.

"Do you kids know that man? He is probably some kind of a pervert who will stick you in his car and we will never see you again!" Loud. Across the whole parking lot. So much for Mr. Rockwell.

I thought about going inside and defending my wounded honor, but it was a good lesson for the kids, so it is all good. But sometime, 25 years from now one of those kids is going to pipe up at a reunion and say "Hey, you guys remember when that pervert helped us find those coins in the park??" Heartwarming.

5.17 in clad
1 .925 cheesy sterling ring

Thanks for listening,
HJ

Great story and finds. Keep on hunting and eventually I will post some pics of my bottle finds from 25 or so years ago.

Unfortunately, in this day and time - safety for our kids is more important than ever...the lady could have handled the situation a bit better...but you handled it well on your end by just letting it roll off your back...

We have to be careful with our kids, but that said people like her only make it worse. She is like my Aunt who didn't like to watch out for her kids o she made them scared of everything. She would tell them if they went swimming they would drown, if they played in the woods a coyote would eat them, and etc. You did great though in finds and kindness and....PATIENCE.

Sad times for sure, I packed up and left a park yesterday when a couple of neighborhood kids showed up and started flowing me around asking all sorts of questions.

Yes, these are sad times. I am kind of happy that my three range from 19 to 15, but there is still so much to worry about. My oldest is in college and I worry all the time. If any one of those kids from yesterday learned not to approach strangers and it saves them a bad experience, I am good with that. Thanks for all the comments, I was kind of disheartened after it happened, thanks for letting me get it off of my chest.

JC, I would love to see some of your bottles. Post some pics if you find some time!

Hey, if that lady was really concerned at all with where her kids were, she would have been sittin' on her porch or in her yard watching them herself. I would have walked right up to her and shaken her hand and introduced myself. I'm not about to let someone label me a child molester. I don't even like kids, so she can keep 'em for herself and away from me!!!!

hehe...I don't hate kids, just tryin' to make a point.
