I actually thought about what I would do if someone asked my permission to MD my yard. I have a neighbor in the block who has a detector, I have seen him use it before. He has come here a few times trying to get my wife to join some of those money making opportunities that we are all skeptical about. I have been waiting for him to come knock at the door with a metal detector in hand. There are a few things I would do first before letting someone metal detect my yard, the first being that I would have to hunt my front yard since I have never swung the coil there yet.
History Junkie - do you have a test garden you created for learning your machine? If so, you may not anymore if the guy found it and ran home with great fortune! hehe Something else to consider - why did he want your yard to detect? Do you think he did some research and may have indications that your yard may have been a prime site at one time? Just something to make you wonder! ![]()

Hi Pris,
I'm not sure what kind of machine he was swinging, and I probably would have liked to talk to him if I would have been home. At that moment I would have to guess that I was leading a group of soon to be terrified of me children through a township park. Maybe he will stop again. Stephan, My test garden has long since been harvested, so I doubt he got any freebies on me. I am sure the reason that he stopped is that my house is on an 1872 landowner atlas. Maybe he went home as disappointed and frustrated as I have become with the surrounding area. That's why I was swinging elsewhere. ![]() Did I mention that my son is not a TQ non-silver member? He pulled a mercury dime out of our front yard with a $99 Wal Mart BH. ![]() HH, HJ |

Indeed! Good for him, though. He could all teach us something.
