Hey Gator
I believe it's true that some folks will bash a detector or manuf. for whatever reasons. Some ARE loyal to certain ones and knock anything else but then some ARE Loyal to certain ones and just give an honest opinion. Sometimes IT IS hard to tell who's blowing smoke and who's not. I've used Whites and think they are Great detectors. I have a Whites Surfmaster PI., A Wilson Coin Select, A Vaquero, & Tejon. ILove my Surfmaster but will upgrade shortly and It will be a Whites. My Wilson Coin Select is an Awesome Coinshooter But I may Sell that Shortly as I'm leaning more towards Beach & Water Hunting. Now The Vaquero I Will Probably NEVER Part With. Grond Balancing Is A Breeze, If you can't grasp it from the manual, Just go to the Tesoro forum here, Subforum " Vaquero" and I And Chuck have a Post there That will explain it, It really is Easy & fast. I don't know if you checked out Metal Detectors News & Reviews.Net but I agrree with ALL the post there. I just got my Tejon, have not been able to get out but just a little, the Ground balance ( To Me ) is as easy as the Vaquero. It is a Little bit of a different creature but thats what it is suppose to be. PROPER Ground Balancing IS THE KEY for your Detector to give you it's Best. I'm sure your right that some folks will have a detector for a little while and see something new come out and they just have to have it never giving what they have a real chance to prove or disprove itself. I would say alot of folks try different machines as they go along, myself included but as for me personally I am trying to fine tune my little arsenal to my own specific needs. Everyone is different, will have different reasons for what they do and express different Opinions for whatever reasons. My personal Opinion is that you will Love the Vaquero if you get it & Probably keep it even if you decide to Upgrade to another machine or something with Pre-Set GB. & TID. Sorry this is long but I hope it Helps.
