The Prizm III is my first MD, and it's a good machine, and it has depth finder that the II doesn't have, but I think the V would be much better with the smart notch, and multi tones. Also I'm glad you mentioned the hole in the center of the coil. I was wondering if that helped with PP. One other advantage is the Prizm V has a 9.5" coil, where as the Prizm II, III, and IV only have a 8" coil.
Keep us posted on how your Prizm V is working out for you. I'd like to hear more feedback, and see some of your finds with it.
I'm considering a Prizm V as well (I have a III)...I'd certainly be interested in hearing how your new machine works out for you in the next few days/weeks....

Hey Shawn, Michael has the Prizm V. I hope he let you take a look at it and hear the different tones. If not, I know he loves it. The only thing is that I don't think it does really well in salt conditions. Not sure if that's something you're looking for, being that you're in CO. You're a traveller, though, so it might be a plus to have something that can see right through the minerals down to the treasure!
