Default Ever had to hunt for your OWN stuff?

I was hunting in a beach volleyball court yesterday - when Peggy walked up and asked for the car keys...I reached into my pocket - and...nothing! You know that panicky feeling you get when you realize you've lost something of value? I had that...until I realized that this particular model of pants came with TWO front pockets and the keys were safe and sound...which got me to thinking: Has anyone ever lost something while they were dirt fishing - and had to hunt for it with their own machine? And if so - did you find it?

Default Well actually.......

Quite a few times ! In fact just yesterday i was wonderin around in a cornfield when i heard a thump.First thing i thought was "oops dropped my digger" as it wasent secured to well to my rig.Sure enough look and no digger ! So i started to look around and couldent find it well after walkin around lookin for awile i was totaly discombobulated ( rows of corn all look the same after awile)! Set the detector to all metal and started beatin the bushes, finally about 30 yards from were i heard the thump found the digger.Still dont know what the heak that thump was !

Default Well since you brought it up

It's so funny that you brought this up... The other day I was Hunting in a Lake here in Saint Cloud,Fl
When I looked down into the water and Noticed Money Floating..

I was mid chest deep and I used my scoop to collect 1 $20.00 & 2 $1.00 bills..
Then I go to put it in my pocket and notice that my Cash is gone..
But my pocket had Velcro down the middle.. but the two ends I guess had just enough space for ALL of my money to float out...

I had $72.00 on me at the time....

Then all of a sudden the sun went behind the clouds and the water got dark and I could no longer see.. So I got my bearings and waited for the sun....
It finally poked through the clouds and I found the rest within 20 minutes.. It was a little difficult cause of the winds and the slight Lil current. I spotted it on the lake bed and went to grab it and it turned into a little game of Cat and Mouse..

Funny you should post this. I remember years ago I found a Merc Dime and " THOUGHT " I placed it into my pouch. A few minutes later while I was criss-crossing the area, I found another Merc Dime on top of the ground,,, still covered in dirt. Standing there with a puzzled look on my face , I checked my pouch and discovered my first dime was not there. I missed placing it in my pouch and luckly re-found it.

Not for myself, but my father-in-law lost his wedding band twice while trimming bushes.

The first time I found it on the ground, but the second time I searched and searched and told him it looked like it was gone this time.

Thats when I got the idea to poke my coil in and out of the bush. Well I got a signal and gently spread the bushes and no ring, so I figured it must have fallen to the ground. Searched the ground again and nothing. Poked the bushes again (real gentle this time) and got a signal and about the same time saw a glimmer of gold.

He was a happy man. Never wore his ring again while trimming!

This happened to me a couple of months ago. I was repairing a belt on my lawn tractor and when I went to put the mower deck back onto the machine I realized I had misplaced a bolt. Well, I had a huge pile of hay that I removed from the top of the mower deck when I first took it off of the machine and realized that the bolt was lost somewhere in the hay somewhere. I didn't grab my metal detector, but instead grabbed my VibraProbe. I probed the hay for a couple of minutes and found the missing bolt. I was then glad to have taken up the hobby!
