Default tomorrow's hunt

tomorrow I'm going to an old farm to hunt. It's only been fifteen years or so since someone lived there but the barn is from about 1866, so people have been there that long. It's pegged together with huge wooden dowels, and the boards on the side are attached with square nails. It has hand-hewn beams that probably weigh a quarter of a ton. There are still adze marks on them. The last time I was there, I found a model t axel, an aluminum hubcap, and a pop can. Hopefully, I'll be luckier this time. I've been practicing in my yard, which was a farm fiel in the 50's so everything is 8" deep, or more, and its all junk like chisel-plow tips.

well, the most interesting thing I found was the old lightning rod, with about 60 feet of heavy copper wire. At the current price of copper, It'll probably sell for $45 or $50. I couldn't go by the house, as the bees were somewhat irate today. I took pictures while I was out. The one shows the bees. All those specks and the board sticking out of the barrel are bees. The picture with my dad should show the scale. My dad's the man in the picture; He's not as tall as I am, but he's still six feel tall. The one picture shows the hay hook still hanging in there. The one picture is the wooden pegs that hold the barn together, and the next is part of the old foundation, along with some new. If the pics are too much, let me know, and I'll host them.

Nice find on the lightning rod, it may have some collectable value in addition to metal price.

I don't know about other areas but the yellow jackets really seem to be very agressive this year
