Ok, lets say that you've been extremely lucky at your hunt and found a nice gold ring with a big ol' diamond. The wife/gf/signifcant other doesn't want it, tells you to sell it. You say ok thats fine.

Where would one sell something like that? Ebay? Jewelry store? I know several folks keep their gold and melt it down, but THEN what? I'm dying to know cuz maybe, just maybe someday, I'll run into this dilemma :)

I'd sell it on ebay, but would get a quote from a jewler and start the bidding at that amount.

I was told that you have to pay for an appraisal to find out how much something is worth. I've also been told that my fine gold necklaces that I found would barely cover the cost of the appraisal. So for now I'm a collector of yellow and silver metal and shiny stones. Jason

i dont think a jeweler will charge you. i know they do on the net but i think you would be able to find a place to tell you for free.

HOLD ON TO IT! When everyting goes south gold will get you what you need to survive, Not paper which will be worthless. And it makes a very nice nest egg.
