Default Low batteries while detecting

I was wondering if the batteries play a big roll as to the efficiency of your detector.Obiously dead batteries are out,but I was wondering more about when they are say 1/2 full or maybe a bit less. Will your detector work as well as if they were fresh?

I've seen this question asked before in the forums already and many people believe there detector works better at full charged batteries than when they are somewhat drained. I am no expert in this matter, but I have been changing my batteries when the meter gets to half-life.

I use rechargables so can only speak about them but I have noticed once they start showing use on the meter they drop fast and once they hit about the 50% mark they (IMO) give me different types of readings. When I swing over the same target at this point the readings sometimes jump all over. I nearly always swap at 50%.

In my experience, efficiency of your machine drops proportionately with the strength of the batteries...I don't always replace the batteries at 1/2 strength - but very soon at that point, as you can miss a lot of signals due to weaker batteries.
