Talking Clothes Lines???

I've seen on here and other forums people mentioning the clothes lines at houses. Are under clothes lines really a good place to go metal detecting? i have about 200 houses built in the 40's thru 70's right here and the all have clothes lines. alot of them are still currently used. Is this something i need to take advantage of??????? Also has anyone ever found anything other than coins around clothes lines???

We used to hang sheets over the clothes lines when I was a kid and play fort and also camp out in the yard. When playing fort we usually would loose toy cars or something because when "attacked" we would retreat and leave all behind. My older brother and cousins was always burying "their spoils" and leaving it up to us littler kids to findour stuff. Several times we couldn't. I am mentioning this to give you an idea as what could be there.

many coins have been found where old clothes lines once were. When britches were hung out to dry coins that were left in the pockets would fall to the ground below.

Remember, years ago there were no automatic clothes dryers, clothes were hung out to dry daily

Good luck with your hunt!
Our house was built in the mid-1940's. Found a Mercury dime and some wheaties just by following the clothesline. I'm sure it will be worth your time.

ok so i only got out for two hours to check out those clothes lines! and here is what i found.

LOTS of trash!!!!

21 pennys 1965-1998 all but 7 were from the 70's which is a trend i'm seeing here on base!

And my first Quarter which just happened to be a 1943! SILVER

So thats it for two hours of having fun! I think i might go out again before dinner!
