Hi Digger and congrats on getting the machine that you wanted most. In my opinion there is still much to be said for analog meters and electronics, not that I have anything against digital. We are still putting analog meters in most of our radiation instruments where I work. The Nyquist Thereom says that when an analog signal goes through the conversion to digital that as much as 30% of the original signal can be lost. I think the guys that still do vinyl records may have something!
Bill I definitely know that in this world of escalating costs companies are cutting corners as much as possible. So analog is more costly now and fading away fast. I picked up a Compass Gold Scanner Pro because I wanted the analog readout. It is a bit heavier but I love those swingin meters! Ok I just wanted to say hi and glad you found the one you wanted Digger. God Bless everyone and happy hunting! John Tomlinson,CET P=VI John's Detectors Team Nuggetfinder Blackwell,Tx. Thanks fellas.I read over the manual tonight TWICE man I,m crosseyed now. There is so much this MD can do in the hands of a good operator.I did a web search on this thing and there are some owners that claim they can out hunt even a whites dfx I,m going to start by getting a good tune and signal ballance ,then just go with the preset settings. Its overwhelming right now.I,ll try working the other bells and whistles in one at a time.

I wouldn't worry about what others say in regards to outhunting another detector. The detector has to be capable of hunting your sites at utmost proficiency and the operator must have a thorough understanding of all available facets.Good Luck with your XL Pro Diggerbarns. HH Bill

Well after reading and a little trial and error,I got the machine ballanced today.I visited a local tot lot that I,ve been to many times with my prizm 5..I figured it was hunted out.NOPE I got hits all over the place some good some junk. This machine locks on to a target and really holds it for you.I found a penny at 5 inches (not bad).I collected about a dollar in clad and pennies.I cant wait to go back out again.I still have a lot to learn, and I,m egar too.

The more you use it Digger, the more your gonna love it. The analog meters are the best, they lock on and don't move. And just wait until you get in wet ground and start searching, deep, deep....DEEP ! The 6000's are God.
