Default Whoo Hoo! I Got my Xl pro

Well I found a nice one,and had to PRY it from the owner. It came with a 9.5 inch coil, and I also purchased a 5.3 inch coil for trashy areas. Now I can start some serious MDing.I like my prizm 5 for park hunting for coins ect,but I always felt like there were goodies I was missing.I have alot to learn about this unit.I can see from the video and instructions its a bit complicated and can be confusing.I took it out for a test yesterday.I was trying to keep an eye on the needle whenever a pull tab was found, they would read 32 where a nickle would read 28.This is what I was hoping for.The ability to seperate good from bad,by looking at the numbers. My prizm will read a nickle on pull tabs because they are close.Ok so my question is will the numbers read the same on either of these items if they are deeper in the ground? Will the numbers stay consistant?

You should do well when you get used to your new machine. I would say the numbers will stay kinda close. That's a guess though. Someone else more experienced with that machine can tell you more. Good luck, Buster....

Hey Bro,,,, your gonna love that machine once you get used to it. Its a killer on everything, Coins, Relics, Jewelry... it will do it all.

One piece of advice I can give you from experience using the 6000 units is...different types of Pulltabs will register differently on the meter/number reading. And the depth they are at will be different also. Get some different ones and definetely test them to see just where they meter. One other thing too,,, samll gold rings and other jewelry will meter around 28 - 32 also. I have 3 gold rings that peg right at nickle. I only found them because I was digging pulltabs those days.

Which unit did you get exactly ??? The 6000 SL or the 6000 XL PRO ???

Excellent, Digger! I understand the thrill of getting a new machine and figuring it out. It just takes time and the finds get better. Good hunting!

Dale, That is great news!! You will really enjoy that machine when you get used to it. I found with my 6000 that the meter reading was extremely accurate and could really tell the slight difference between types of items. I did notice that I feel the needle on this that type of meter would stay locked on a target number better than the display on my XLT. My machine appears to sample the target more and shift between number readings. The 6000 seemed to stay locked on better. Good luck on all your finds with that baby!! Keep us posted on how it is going and I will be looking for some good finds soon!! HH Bill

Thats what everybody kept telling me,and why I got one.The new display type needs some improving in that department.Whites needs to rethink the top of the line models and bring back the ole needle. My prizm 5 is a decent coin detector, but does not lock on.Sometimes giving an inconsistant reading.I,m anxious to learn this machine, but I,m busy at work so I,ve only been out once.

This is only from memory after reading many many posts and it's been a while since i've been in a discussion on the demise of the analog meter machines but i believe it was a cost vs sales decision as the analog components were very cost prohibitive and component manufacturers were getting scarce. Digital components are much more cost effective and readily available. If you like the Xl Pro you may as well plan on preserving it because there probably won't be another one like it soon, if ever. Feel lucky you got a good one. HH Bill
