When it comes to clad. The only ones I will keep are pre 1965 (silver) and wheats. I do have quite a few Bicentennial quarters. The only reason I kept them was because I graduated from high school that year.

The rest of my "found" clad I am going to clean and spend on this hobby, Beale.

All of it. It's only worth face value. No precious metals. I don't even bother cleaning them other than a quick rub under the faucet to check the date. Cleaning them is not going to increase their value. In fact, if you have a coin that you think may be worth something, the worst thing you could do is clean it. I've got too much time and money invested in this hobby to invest in cleaning equipment. However, I do keep bicentennial quarters, wheat pennies and SBA dollars that I may get in change.

After 3 years detecting, I cashed in my jar of clad this past spring. I was a little disappointed. I thought I had around $200. I only had $135

Thanks, as Im am fairly new, I stop at 1970 and keep all the error coins and Philadelphia Mint Coins. No errors coins..not yet.:presents2:.. But I do believe I held in my hand the dime that had a staple in it. I remember having a dime like that in my pocket once.. I cant be for sure....but it sure seems to strike an accord with me... shrugs shoulders...

I was wondering if yall kept any of the no mint marks coins from Philadelphia Mint. so I figured I collect a couple rolls of ea. with the no mint marks. Made mention that I may need a shied.. Id take that back, Im gonna need a Safe. I guess I could build a concrete building with a steal door..

I'm pretty much like the others...I keep everything pre-1965...but keep in mind that there are a FEW 1965 Roosevelt dimes that were mistakenly struck containing the same silver content as 1964 and earlier...so always check 'em! I also keep all bi-centennial commemoratives (sentimental reasons - there's still a bunch of 'em out there), SBA dollars and Sacajawea dollars...

Ditto on what everyone else said, the silver & wheats & the 1 half I found gets put aside, the rest in my savings acct, I keep a journal of what I've found & where so I know how much of each coin I've found so I can keep a total count, in 2 months I've only found about $30 in clad but that will increase significantly come spring break & summer

Speaking of Error Coins...

I came across this Kansas error coin while sifting through state quarters...Theres articles on it as far as the word Trust missing the "T" making it look like "In God we rust", but the one I have is also missing the "G" in God making it look like "In od we rust"...
