Around here you don't leave your truck out of sight! The walkers will clean you out or even take it!

Yep bad mans out there. I live 30 miles from the border and you can be someplace thinking your miles from any one and here comes a group of 10 walking toward you!

I keep a Ruger .22 pistol with me at all times while away from the truck. It's not a Cannon but works on snakes and makes the bad man think twice.

Most of them are just trying to get from there to here. Some are not nice people.

I go detecting with my work truck, 1987 nissan pathfinder. I lock it but don't even look back.

The few times I've been out so far were at local playgrounds, so I was able to keep my car within sight. I do have plans to hit some more remote locations sooner or later. I was thinking of getting a mountain bike. If I can find public parking relatively close to the hunting location, I'll leave the car there, and bike the rest of the way. You can take the bike anywhere and more or less always keep it within eye sight. As far as transporting the detector and accessories, I would put them in a backpack.
Great thread!

Default I only hide my vehicle from the competition

I have some competitors(Civil War relic) that have been out looking for my vehicle(when they know I'm finding stuff). I try to keep my vehicle out of sight from them. They have invaded my spots before, so I learned the hard way. Haven't had to worry about any of this lately, 'cause I ain't been. Need to go......

I drive a 2007 Xterra. I went to get another key made and the woman went into this 1/2 hour spiel on how it cant be jumped or stolen. All I thought was, just cut me another key! It wasnt that simple.

The key is digital and the signature has to match before the SUV can be started. Really high tech stuff.

Also

Apparently, the SUV has some type of tracking device in it.
No wonder I paid so much for the damn thing...Sheesh.

The whole thing amazed me.
