Default The NEW Excalibur II?!?!?!

I guess I have been in the cave too long. I am seeing references to a NEW Excalibur II that is supposed to be available December 1st. Anyone have the specs?

You know Steve.. I've heard those stories for a year now.. Last year when I bought my Excalibur I heard the same so I waited and waited and Nothing....

From what I hear the Excalibur has had slight changes in the past Mostly cosmetic.. Yellow ears, Nicer paint.. I mean what more can you ask for with a Perfect machine....

More Accessories... Custom straight shafts, Wading neck strap...

I've heard a couple of things about it... it'll be more expensive, and I don't think the changes are anything life-altering. Not sure how much liberty I have to talk about it in detail

okay okay - I just cleared it. I can talk!! lol!! (it's so not that serious :)

So we're getting several in, sometime VERY soon (like next week?), and I was right about the prices. They will be a firm $1,300.00 - which is retail on the current machines, but we're currently allowed to shave a couple hundred off for the sale price. We currently have several of the 1000's left, they're going for $999.99, and that's the lowest you'll see 'em new for.... well... a long time.

The decal IS lime green now.

The coils have reduced weight and improved balance because they're the new "Slimline coil" (which may eliminate the need for the balancing rod?) - but nothing in the circuitry has been changed.

The battery park is apparently NiMH, improved from the NiCad Rechargeable Battery system the current ones have.

Otherwise, it is still submersible to 200ft, has the same electronics and headphones, still transmits frequencies from 1.5kHz to 25.5kHz in 1.5kHz increments...

But really... how could they improve what is already considered the best water machine? I mean, I hear the stories, I get the reviews, I edit all the text on 'em, and from what I can tell the only gripe people have is the balancing... for which there is an aftermarket rod, and now a lighter coil... As for the lime green... I could take it or leave it.

I'll pass on reviews as soon as I get 'em. I'm sure there are folks at Kellyco who've got dibs on testing it. When I know more, I"ll pass it on! Otherwise, my advice is to pick up an Excalibur I now (or any Minelab for that matter), while the prices are low. Because after the first of the year they're all up up up! But then, John at John's detectors gave us all the heads up on that earlier this week (such a great guy!). From what I understand, Minelab is just the first company to take their prices up, but you can expect it across the board as 2008 progresses.

Hope this helps!!

Thanks, Ali! So, can we assume that we can use the NiMh batterries with our old units with no problem?

Any idea as to whether the new batteries have any type of charge indicator?
