Default Ductwork treasure !

Hello all ! My Dad just told me a story that i thought y'all might like and may lead ya to some treasure ! My Dad had a plumbing and heating buissness for years. He told me of a time that he was hired to work on a heating system for an old country store.Y'all have probably seen the old systems were there was a large grate in the floor.Well this store had this type.My Dad took off the grate and was vacuming it out when he started to hear things clinking. He looked closer and could see coins at the bottom of the grate but couldent reach them so he got a long hose and a stick and was using the stick to knock them loose from the bottom as they were stuck in the dirt and crud.He cant remember exactly what or how many, but told me there were lots ! He couldent wait to get home and clean out that vacumcleaner ! He said there were half dollars and quarters all silver ! There were other things to but he doesent remember what else exactly.
We used to replace these old systems quite often and we would always find coins and marbles and even a ring or other jewelry once in awile. But being as the one my Dad cleaned was in a store I imagine people were dropping stuff down there for years !So if anyone knows of an old store with one of the old systems,it could be worth looking into !

Now that is a cool story! I have seen these but never thought about money or anything else being under one, Beale.

You just never know where treasure is waiting for you. Thanks for the heads up, I'll never look at ductwork the same way again .

I grew up in an old old house that had a big grate in the hallway floor, I can personally attest to the treasure trove that was beneath it, because I lost lots of stuff down there... not sure if anyone else values Barbi shoes and barrettes as much as I did back then, but I always loved it when my step-dad would get down there and give us back all the things my sister and I lost. Right on, Rip!

So far I've found one very old license plate, a lot of nails, some funky green pennies and other misc. change.. but who's counting? I'm just here to have fun, giggle, and make friends along the way!

I have a memory of when i was about 6 or 7.(1966 or 67)I was messin around and dropped a dime down the register. There was no way to retrive it as the heat run ran inside of the wall down two stories.Man was I bummed !

I just helped a friend move and my buddy and I decided to cheak the ductwork. We found a pair of underwear ! Needless to say they are still there !
