Default Outside Dancing stages

Hi,

Here's another area that can be researched

I have read that years ago people used to have dances outside. The person holding such dances would normally collect a small fee maybe a nickel or dime.

I read an article on this once, It was called "A Dime A Dance" All the town folk would pay a dime and dance the night away.

Surely some of them dimes were dropped
If anyone has read this "Dime a Dance" article please send it to me, I can't remember where I read it.

Go ahead and research your town or area and see if you can locate one, sure would be fun detecting there

Default Very Interesting

VERY INTERESTING AND TRUE GREG. I REMEMBER GOING TO SOME OF THOSE DANCES. YOU MIGHT ALSO WANT TO RESEARCH WITH THE OLDER FOLKS WHERE THEIR "FAMILY REUNIONS" AND "GET TOGETHERS" WERE HELD. THESE HOLD A LOT OF POSSIBILITIES...PAPPY

Greg,
I think it is part of a chapter in Coin Hunting... In Depth by Dick Stout. I'll take a look and let you know when I find the section.

A good friend of mine has informed me that a long time ago, there used to be a dance hall next to where they live. I have looked this area over from the road, and it is nothing but woods now. I will seek permission later this spring to see if I can check it out. The old lumber jacks used to get pretty rowdy on Sat night, so maybe I'll get lucky here. Wish me luck.
