Being new to metal detectors, I've quickly learned that there are different types or kinds. I have two different types now. One requires motion and the other does not. I've see others, still, on TV that seem even different than the two types I have. I've seen discussion here of threshold detectors. What are they?
How many different types are there? What are their advantages and disadvantages? Can someone shed some light on this? I've found some links that shed light on the various types and will add them here as I find them. There is a good article in the Jan 08 issue of Lost Treasure (page 48) titled "How Detectors Work".
