Default Metal detector in a hot car

Just curious about next summer.I am planning a trip to the beach, and I want to take my MD along. Its almost imposible not to have to leave the MD in the car at times. It gets hot as we all know. When does it become a threat to damaging the MD?

Default i keep mine in truck

and sheri keeps the prizm 3 in the trunk of her car. i have not had any problems at all.... you wouldnt want to leave it out in the seats where it would be in dirct sunlight for long periods. but other than that no major problems leaving one in vehicle.

I haven't experienced any problems with my Shadow X2 or Cutlass II being left in the vehicle for several days with temps going above 100 degrees. However, I've always removed the batteries - don't know if that helps or not. I just got the X-70 and don't know about and haven't read about any heat affects; just the normal operating temps as recommended by the manufacturer.

I took my Excalibur and SE to the beach for a week and the SE never came out of it's case, the Excalibur was the only one I used the entire week, but neither had any problems.

I would always leave the windows cracked, I would imagine that condensation would be the biggest issue, moreso than heat unless it was in direct sunlight.

I leave my Explorer SE and my Ace250 in the bed of my truck all of the time without the heat affecting either one. I do have a bed cover which provides constant shade on them. Plus I keep them in their bags as well.

I have left my X-70 in the car for the day while at work many times. I just cover it up to keep the direct sun off of it, Beale

I think it will be just fine. I have left my XLT in the trunk for a few hours and had no problems.

I agree with everyone else on this one. I leave mine in the truck all the time and just try to avoid the direct sunlight. JC:reindeer:

Just leave it in the trunk of the car out of direct sunlight and direct eyesight.
Someone sees it on your back car seat then your asking for trouble. Taking the batteries out might not be a bad idea.:christmaswreath:

Being a circuit board designer and working with electronics for many years, I know for a fact that one of the worst enemies of a circuit board is "thermal cycling". That is the process where something heats up (expanding) and cools down (contracting). This expanding and contracting can cause solder joints to crack which could cause the circuit board to fail. It's probably not gonna happen after a few cycles.....just something to keep in mind. I try to keep my DFX out of extreme temps either way.
