Default Money no object - which one

Ok, hypothetical question here. Just pretend that someone would give you whatever MD you wanted for free. Which one would you choose for coin shooting, beach, relic etc.?

No restrictions makes it hard to choose! If it weren't for money I'd have one of each!:grinningelf:

Hands Down the Minelab Explorer SE !!! Its easy to operate, Menus are easy to scroll through, Many different coils can be had....

And Please do yourself a favor and Buy a SUN-RAY X-1 Probe........ You will be very Pleased.... Good Luck with what ever you decide...

Oh Yeah !!!!! Keep in mind it's not about the Detector.. Which is best or not.... It's all about understanding the detector and using it to it's full potential...

A person with a cheap detector That "Really Understands" its functions... Will most likely out hunt someone with a top end unit who is not familiar with his Detector....

So Read the Manual front & Back... and repeat.. repeat repeat.. until it all sinks in...

I don't know that there is one single machine that would fit such a broad requirement.

I believe there are specific machine(s) that excel in coin shooting, in-water detecting, nugget prospecting and relic hunting.

I would need to know what you are aiming to do most of the time.

Beyond that, more information would be needed to narrow it down further.

At this point, I would say you needed at least 5 machines at least to hunt everything you want to hunt.

There are single frequency, multiple frequency and pulse induction. Within each of those types there are sub-categories of detectors.

You are starting out right by researching. It is hard to narrow down the list until you understand what you want to look for, where you want to look and the soil characteristics of the area you are hunting.

Think about it and come back with your ideas....Just my thoughts on the matter. I'll be glad to help if you can flesh it out a little more.

For coin shooting, there are a lot of excellent machines out there. The Garret 2500 and the Fisher 75 are two that come to my mind. For water, The Minelab Excalibur and Whites PI. For nugget hunting, The Minelab GX4000 plus a few others. Not too sure about relic hunting machines.

I will be honest I am very happy with my X-70. If I had an unlimited buget for another machine? I would probably get a Minelab Excalibur for the water hunting, Beale.

I agree with Beale, I am very pleased with my X-70, it does all I need and then some. You can always spend more money on bells and whistles but in the end it all comes down to brain on the end of the handle. (Your brain and how well you understand what the machine is telling you.)

I would stick with my XLT, but if money were no object I would get my husband one too.
