Default Good People...

A few years ago, Robert Fulghum published a work entitled: All I Really Need to Know – I Learned in Kindergarten – and it was (and still is) wildly popular for both its truth and humor.

Borrowing blatantly and shamelessly from Mr. Fulghum’s format, I’ve compiled my own work – based on just what I’ve observed since joining TQ in August of this year. I hope that all of you see as I do; the wonder and the joy that comes from realizing that in a world that is all too often caught up in a hectic rat race to be first, to win at all costs, to step over those who are perceived to be in the way – that there are still many who treasure true values, many who care about others, many who understand that although life may indeed be a race – to be a winner, one doesn’t have to finish first – but merely finish.

So without further ado…

All I Need to Know About Good People, I Learned at TQ
  • Good people share; whether it is possessions, ideas or just a kind word.
  • Good people are honest and fair.
  • Good people don’t say things that are hurtful.
  • Good people know how to laugh with others – and laugh at themselves.
  • Good people hurt when a family member hurts.
  • Good people teach others.
  • Good people aren’t ashamed to say they believe in God.
  • Good people don’t belittle another person’s beliefs, values or lifestyles.
  • Good people LOOK for ways to help others.
  • Good people are not rude or crude.
  • Good people have a love for life.
  • Good people aren’t ashamed to cry.
  • Good people are tolerant.
  • Good people know that life is fragile; they accept that and make the most of every day.
  • Good people encourage others.
  • Good people make mistakes – and learn from them.
  • Good people realize that dogs are people too!
  • Good people understand that of all the precious gifts that come from God – none are more precious than family.
Imagine if everyone shared these values and ideals! There would be less war, less crime and less sadness in the world. In their places would be more laughter, more happiness and more peace of mind. These values and ideals aren’t inherent to any specific race, culture, creed or religious belief – but rather inherent to mankind. They are there inside all of us – in some people they are more evident than in others – but they are there all the same.

May 2008 bring peace, happiness and hope to all of the GOOD PEOPLE at TQ.

Shawn & Peggy McMillin

I was doing good until I got to the one about not being crude.

Nice post Shawn. Thanks.
